Who we are:

The Orillia Manufacturers Association is a progressive regional organization which has been meeting and holding events since its inception October 1998.  Our members are located in the City of Orillia, and in the surrounding Townships of Oro-Medonte, Severn, and Ramara. Membership requirement is that the applicant firm produce a saleable product. The short term focus of the OMA is to address  issues common to all members, be they changes in labour legislation, safety laws, transportation and so on. Our long term focus is to assist our members to continually increase efficiency and effectiveness in day to day operations. This is achieved by having expert speakers, coordinating training and education for groups, and actual hands-on teams visiting a member's operation and doing a "blitz" to see if something can be improved. The membership has become like family due to earning trust through regular communication and exposure to common issues. There is significant diversity in the products produced (aircraft components to furniture dowels), and size of operations (fewer than ten to over 1000 employees). The rewards of participation are not related to the size of the operation, but on how much the individual member feels he/she can contribute to and gain from belonging to the group.

Our Philosophy:

Our philosophy, or reason for meeting is simple, as a collective we are looking to share information and address issues that relate to us in the manufacturing sector.  This could include anything from a lack (or surplus) of skilled trades to sharing in-house expertise to collective training to mention just a few.  Ultimately, we are looking for ways that we can contribute in a positive fashion to our own profitability.

Our Goal:

The present membership represents about 40% of the qualifying area manufacturers. Our goal is to achieve 75% participation.
